I’m always looking for easy time saving meals that I can feed my family, but more often than not the fast, easy, cheap meals end up being less than Healthyish. This recipe is so awesome! It only takes 30 minutes and you have 3 dinners ready to go and of course I make the traditional meals with a twist and make them Healthyish.
Meal prepping can sometimes be a daunting task when you are trying to do so many things at once but this super simple recipe for Ground Turkey Spaghetti, Ground Turkey Taco’s and Ground Turkey Sloppy Joe’s will be sure to impress your family and make dinner time a breeze. Not only does it save you time but it also saves you money having a quick meal on hand so you don’t end up ordering a pizza or going out.
I always start out by gathering my ingredients so they are easy to grab and I’m not bouncing from fridge to pantry trying to remember what I need. In these recipes you use a lot of the same ingredients for all three. So grab your ground turkey, green peppers, red peppers, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salsa, Cholula, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, oregano, basil, Italian seasoning, Lakonta Monk Fruit Sweetener or sugar, cinnamon, olive oil and set it all out on your counter.
Now that everything is out you can start with prepping. Get out 3 large pans and put them on your stove on medium heat. Dice the onion and garlic, I usually use my food processor for this because I HATE dicing onion and my husband can’t stand it either. So I cut the onion in half and get the skins off the garlic and pulse them in my Cuisinart Food Processor for a 30 seconds. Just like that the onions are chopped and no one’s crying LOL!
In the 3 pans add 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil to each pan and let it get hot and shimmery. Add 1/3 of the chopped onion garlic mixture to each pan and cook on medium for 2-3 minutes. In the mean time grab your green and red peppers and dice them up.
Add 1/3 of the diced peppers to each of the pans and saute on medium 2-3 minutes until tender. They don’t need to be fully cooked as they will continue cooking when the meat and sauces are added.
When the pepper and onions are done add 1/3 of the turkey meat to each of the pans and turn heat up to medium high. Cook the meat until it is browned. I don’t drain the turkey fat because there usually is not very much to drain but if you prefer drain the turkey fat from the meat before adding the sauce.
Now were cooking! The meat is done and it’s time to add the spices and sauces. Turn the stove down to medium low. Take the 2 cans of tomato sauce and add one can each to 2 of the pans. One of these pans will be spaghetti and one will be sloppy joe’s. I always use the organic sauce with no salt or sugar. It has it has less sodium and so it makes it Healthyish. Plus the organic sauce always tastes fresher and the color of the sauce is way more vibrant than the non-organic version. Add the can of diced tomatoes (again organic no salt added) to one of the pans with sauce and this one is going to be your spaghetti. Tip- if you can’t find organic no salt no sugar tomatoes just buy organic it always has less sodium than the non-organic version. In the last pan of meat add your salsa.
All three of these recipes have some of the same spices so I like to just add them to each pan at the same time. So in each pan of meat add garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. In the pan of tacos and sloppy joe’s add chili powder to both.
Now I start to focus adding the rest of the spices and sauces to finish the recipes. Start with the taco’s as they seem to cook the fastest. Add the cumin, cinnamon and Cholula to the taco meat and mix it all together. Turn this pan down to low.
For the sloppy joe meat add the Worcestershire and Cholula. This recipe calls for 1 Tablespoon of Worcestershier and 1 teaspoon of Cholula but if you like it a little spicier taste the meat mixture and add a but more of both if it needs more zing! Mix the meat mixture and turn down to low.
The spaghetti meat mixture just needs to have the oregano, basil, Italian seasoning and Lakonta Monk Fruit Sweetener or sugar added to it. Mix up the meat mixture and turn to low. If I have time I will simmer the spaghetti for about 1/2 hour but it is ready to eat in 10 minutes if you are in a hurry. I use the Lakonta Monk Fruit Sweetener because it taste’s just like sugar but with only a few calories. Also it’s Keto, Diabetic, Candida, Paleo, Vegan, Low Carb, Low Sugar, NON-GMO, and All Natural making it Healthyish! You will see me use this in a lot of recipes as a sugar replacement and I just love it!
Boom you are done! It’s really that easy! 3 meals in 30 minutes. Now I usually eat one meal right away and put the others into gallon Ziploc freezer bags or freeze all three to use later. Make sure to label them because after they freeze they look pretty similar.
And there you have it 3 meals in 30 minutes that will save you time and money! This recipe has been a life saver for me, when I’m busy and forget to plan dinner I just grab one of these out of the freezer and heat it up in a pan. So much healthier than a frozen dinners you buy at the store that are packed with sodium and taste like mush. I serve the spaghetti with Tinkyada Brown Rice Spaghetti noodles they are very tasty and a perfect substitute for white flour noodles. The sloppy joe’s I serve over a baked potato or whole wheat bun and sometimes add shredded cheese. I serve the Taco’s as either a taco salad or with corn tortillas with plain greek yogurt and avocado.
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do and they make your like a little easier and a lot more Healthyish!
